Jane E. Goldman was born in Dallas, Texas in 1951 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin. She is co-director of Mixit Print Studio, an intaglio printmaking studio in Somerville, Massachusetts, where she lives. She has taught at Massachusetts College of Art, University of California Los Angeles, Rice University, and the University of Hartford. She has been a visiting artist at many institutions, including Harvard University, the University of Wisconsin, Smith College, Wellesley College and the University of Dallas.
As a painter, printmaker, and public artist, Goldman's media include watercolor, intaglio, lithography, relief, screenprint, terrazzo and mosaic tile. "Lyrical realism," based on a combination of free association and direct observation, concisely describes her style.
